במענה למכתבו מה' אלול, שאלתו סדר בלימוד פנימיות התורה שבדורנו נתגלתה בתורת החסידות.
באם אפשר מהנכון ביותר שידבר בזה פא"פ עם המלמדים ומשפיעים לימוד זה בישיבת תומכי תמימים אשר בברוקלין, ועד דאז בנדון דידי' יתאים הסדר להתחיל בחלק שלישי של ספר התניא לרבנו הזקן, ולאחרי זה קונטרס ומעין מבית ה', ולאחרי זה שער היחוד והאמונה חלק שני מספר התניא ולאחרי זה בספר המצות לאדמו"ר הצמח צדק, ובאלו המאמרים שם שלבו חפץ יותר כפי המפתח הנדפס שם, והעיקר שיהי' הלימוד כמו בשאר חלקי תורתנו הק' בהקדמת נעשה לנשמע, נעשה בלימוד עצמו היינו שמחליט שעליו להצליח בלימוד מבלי להתרשם מזה שכמאמר חז"ל כל התחלות קשות, ואמרו חז"ל לא יגעת ומצאת אל תאמין, יגעת ולא מצאת אל תאמין.
והרי נמצאים אנו בימי רצון חדש אלול, חדש הרחמים
בברכה לבשו"ט בכל האמור ולכתיבה וחתימה טובה.

In response to your letter from the 5th of Elul, regarding your question about the order of studying the inner dimension of Torah which in our generation has been revealed in the teachings of Chassidus.
If possible, it would be best for you to discuss this matter face-to-face with those who teach and inspire this study at the Tomchei Temimim Yeshivah in Brooklyn. Until then, as it pertains to your situation, it is appropriate to begin with the third part of the Tanya by our master the Alter Rebbe; afterwards, Kuntres Uma'ayan from Beis HaShem; then Shaar HaYichud VehaEmunah (the second section of Tanya); and after that, Sefer HaMitzvos by Admor tzt"z. In those maamarim there that your heart desires more—according to the printed index there.
The main thing is that the study should be like all other parts of our holy Torah—with the introduction of "Na'aseh v'Nishma" (We will do and we will hear), meaning that one decides to succeed in learning without being affected by the saying of our Sages: "Kol hatchalot kashot" (All beginnings are difficult), and as our Sages said: "If you did not toil and found [success], do not believe; if you toiled and did not find [success], do not believe."
And now we are in days of favor—the month of Elul, the month of mercy. With blessing for good news in all mentioned above and for a good inscription and sealing.
