Shalom u'Vrachah!
In due time and pleasantly, I received regards from you and your husband sheyichyu through Haraha"ch vavac"h iy"a nu"n one who is involved in communal needs etc., Rabbi Yosef Weinberg, upon his return from his visit to your good camp.
I had additional satisfaction when he told me about the awakening, with heartfelt desire and warmth, by your esteemed self and your esteemed husband to unite and draw close the Jewish families in your surroundings. Especially that your husband took upon himself to teach the children—since in our times there is special importance in educating Jewish children, for through them one also influences the parents.
Certainly you and your husband know what is fundamental in our faith generally—and especially emphasized in the teachings of the Baal Shem Tov and Chassidus—the concept of Divine Providence: that every event, great or small, occurring in the world—whether among the inanimate, plant life, animals or humans—in all its details and particulars—is not, G‑d forbid, by chance; rather everything is by Divine Providence with intention and purpose in the conduct of the world.
It goes without saying that when a Jew finds himself in a remote corner of the world, far from his homeland and generally distant from a Jewish community—it is certainly not mere coincidence. One must see oneself as an emissary of Hashem so that through him even this corner will receive the word of G‑d—to increase justice and uprightness regarding everyone—and to spread Judaism and its mitzvos among the Jews there specifically.
And in such cases one should not look at numbers—as our Sages of blessed memory said: "Whoever sustains one soul from Israel is as if he sustained an entire world." If this applies at all times—how much more so in our era after such a significant part of our people was tragically destroyed; every Jew who survived is like a brand plucked from fire and must fulfill not only his own role but also fill the place of those holy ones who fell sanctifying G‑d's Name.
May it be Hashem's will that you and your husband go from strength to strength in your efforts and positive influence on your surroundings—and do so with joy and gladness of heart—as is fitting for "the season of our rejoicing" (Zeman Simchateinu) and especially Simchat Torah when we conclude Tishrei at the start of the year—to draw this joy and enthusiasm into all days of the year.
Regards to all our fellow Jews at your camp sheyichyu—with honor and blessing.
In secretarial correspondence we write only Hebrew, Yiddish or English; please inform which language to continue correspondence from here—I hope it will continue. But as for you and your husband sheyichyu—you may write also in French since I read this language.
The main thing—that you should be able to share good news.
Your camp: Madagascar.
Our Sages said: Sanhedrin 37a.
