Shalom u'Vrachah!
In response to your letter in which you write that you feel a decline in your spiritual state, etc., it is self-evident that for any such feeling one must increase diligence and persistence in Torah study.
Especially in the study of the inner dimension of Torah, which gives vitality and light to all matters of holiness for a person. Even a little light dispels much darkness.
One must also be careful not to exaggerate, G‑d forbid, the extent of the descent—as is also clear from the discourse "Mizmor Shir LeYom HaShabbat" by the Mitteler Rebbe which has just been published. Afterwards, study with proper attention chapters 27–29 of Sefer Tanya Kadisha.
It is also good to become acquainted with the mashpiim of Chassidus at Yeshivas Tomchei Temimim and share your concerns with them; then will be fulfilled what our Sages said on the verse "Da'agah b'lev ish yesichena" (If there is anxiety in a man's heart, let him speak about it), etc.
Blessings for learning Torah with vitality and to increase in chassidus—in its guidance and customs—and for good news.
Summary
The Rebbe teaches that feelings of spiritual descent should be met by increasing Torah study—especially its inner dimension—and by seeking guidance from mentors. Even a small amount of light dispels much darkness; do not exaggerate setbacks but focus on growth.
