Shalom u'Vrachah!
I hereby acknowledge receipt of your note together with the siddur "Tefillah L'Moshe," which as you requested was returned to you by registered mail and has surely already arrived.
Incidentally, regarding the author: you have surely seen his book Mishkenos Avir Yaakov, which contains astonishing stories. Several years ago I showed this book—which happened to come into my possession at that time—to my father-in-law, the Rebbe zatzal nishmaso Eden zichrono tzaddik livrachah zechuso yagen aleinu. From his words I understood that in Lubavitch they did not hold this author in high regard, although I do not know the exact reasons.
P.S. Your registered letter—which you began writing on the 11th of Nissan—was received along with its enclosure.
You have surely seen the supplement to the Haggadah shel Pesach containing a copy of my father-in-law's words regarding matzah and the six species placed upon them. My intention in what I wrote there about those who are uncertain in this matter also refers to the responsa printed in Sefer Kocho d'Rabbi Eliezer bar Rashbi. Perhaps it is worthwhile to inform the author about this as well—since the answer brought there in that responsa is not acceptable to me with all due respect.
I was pleased to hear that he studies Tanya with his group and is beginning to spread these teachings in his surroundings; therefore I hope that what was mentioned above will also be well received by him.
Blessings for success in all his endeavors and for good news in all matters.
Because of the sanctity of the festival, my father-in-law, the Rebbe shlita, did not personally sign this letter; I am signing on his behalf. A. Kventz, secretary.
Summary
This letter highlights careful attention to halachic sources and traditions while encouraging respectful dialogue about differing opinions. It also emphasizes spreading Chassidus through Tanya study and maintaining connection even during busy festival times.
