... In general, regarding the customs of the Spitz Chabad community, there is a well-known saying from the Previous Rebbe that one should be strict with oneself and not with others...

And may it be G‑d's will that at least from now on the idea will be internalized (it should settle in), that the institutions of the network are educational institutions for Jewish children, and that for such education the Previous Rebbe gave his will, strength, and energy. For those who have any connection to it, at least during their free time—when they would otherwise read newspapers or engage in mundane conversation—they should minimize these activities and instead reflect on matters of the network and dedicate these moments to involvement in the affairs of the Previous Rebbe in order to correct and develop them, rather than offering criticism for its own sake without purpose.

It is understood that in all of this I do not refer to a single individual but to several among Anash who are abroad and even among Anash in Eretz Yisrael upon whom "the eyes of Hashem your G‑d are always upon it from the beginning of the year until year's end" (Devarim 11:12)...

Summary

The Rebbe teaches us to use our free time constructively by focusing on supporting and improving Chabad educational institutions. Instead of idle criticism or distractions, we should dedicate ourselves to positive involvement for the benefit of our communities.
