Haraha"g vaharaha"ch iy"a nu"n oseik b'tzt"z tzm"s cho"b etc. etc. Moharshi Zovin
Shalom u'Vrachah!
I received your letter. For several reasons my response was delayed, and I ask your forgiveness for this.
... It is an explicit Mishnah that even if one could say "What have we to do with this trouble?", nevertheless this argument is rejected. The same applies in our case: since my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe zatzal, entrusted you with an important and very necessary matter, it becomes a matter of being sworn and obligated from Mount Sinai... This fits with what we heard from my revered father-in-law that the Holy One, blessed be He, does not "remain a debtor," and as our Sages say that His measure is measure for measure—so certainly by giving of your time to matters of Torah and Avodah, you will be granted success in the time left for your own affairs—both general and specific. In total, you will gain from this...
6) In continuation to the above: For some time now I have thought that all Chabad yeshivos should jointly publish a Torah journal containing novellae from the students. Unofficially—please let me know your opinion on this matter and whether there are among the students of Lod and elsewhere any who are suitable for this.
7) Regarding what you wrote about Mr.... that since his wife once visited Prof.... and was not satisfied with his work then, they wish to wait again for my opinion—whether it is as I wrote previously that they should visit him or if I am retracting that. Certainly it is unnecessary to inform Mr.... and his wife that I am not a professor in medical science nor even a doctor or feldsher in this area. Furthermore—when someone asks me for my opinion and I write what seems right to me, the questioner is not obligated to follow what I said; he has free choice and may act as he wishes. Therefore—there is no reason for any grievance etc. on my part. They should not refrain from any action out of concern for offending my honor; there is no place for such concerns at all. Moreover, since several years have passed since Prof....'s previous work did not satisfy them, but I know of several who turned to his help and succeeded—I see no reason why this case should be different. In any case, however Mr.... and his wife act, may Hashem grant them success so it will be good for them both materially and spiritually.
8) And last but not least: In response to your notification about the birth of a son to your son—the vavach iy"a Mohar Aharon—may it be G‑d's will that just as his parents brought him into the covenant of Avraham Avinu so may they bring him to Torah study, marriage canopy, and good deeds with true expansiveness both materially and spiritually. May you derive much chassidic nachas from all your descendants and be able also to share good news regarding your family members who are still in our former country.
Summary
The Rebbe teaches that accepting communal responsibility brings personal blessing; he encourages collaborative Torah scholarship among yeshiva students; he clarifies his role regarding medical advice; and he blesses the recipient's family on their joyous occasion.
