א)שואל אם יש פירושים על התניא.
פירושים באופן מסודר דף על דף אינם לעת עתה אלא שלפני איזה שנים נעתק התניא באידית, ועתה מכינים לדפוס העתקה באנגלית, נוסף על פירושים לקטעים הנדפסים באופן מימגרפי ונמצאים בתוככי חסידי חב"ד ואוהדיהם.
ב) שואל באיזה מקום באה"ק ת"ו יתיישב לאחרי גמרו לימודו עתה.
כיון שלפי כתבו יגמור בעוד שנה וחצי, עדיין מוקדם להחליט בשאלה האמורה, כיון שמשתנים התנאים בארצנו הקדושה ת"ו ובפרט בהנוגע לענינים של פרנסה באופן שכותב.
תקותי חזקה מתאים לכתבו שמאז הכיר בעניני חב"ד ונפגש עם אנשי' שמתענין ללמוד תורתה, ובאם ככתבו קשה עליו הבנה בספר התניא, יתחיל בחלק שלישי אשר בו (זוהי אגרת התשובה) ואחרי כן חלק השני ולאחרי זה ילמוד קונטרס ומעין, והעיקר שידבר בענינים שלומד עם אלה שכבר למדו תורה זו, שהרי התורה נקנית בדבוק חברים ובפלפול התלמידים, ועל כגון זה נאמר יגעת ולא מצאת אל תאמין.

In response to your letter from the 36th day of the Omer.
a) You ask if there are commentaries on the Tanya. Systematic commentaries page by page do not exist at present; however, some years ago the Tanya was translated into Yiddish, and now preparations are underway for an English translation. Additionally, there are explanations on certain sections that have been printed in mimeograph form and can be found among Chabad Chassidim and their supporters.
b) You ask where in Eretz HaKodesh (may it be rebuilt and established) you should settle after completing your studies now. Since, according to your letter, you will finish in a year and a half, it is still too early to decide on this question because conditions in our holy land (may it be rebuilt and established), especially regarding livelihood as you describe, are changing.
My strong hope—based on your letter—that since you became acquainted with Chabad matters and met its people who are interested in studying its teachings, if as you write you find it difficult to understand the Tanya, begin with the third part (which is Igeres HaTeshuvah), then proceed to the second part, and afterwards study Kuntres U'Maayan. Most importantly, discuss what you learn with those who have already studied this Torah; for Torah is acquired through connection with friends and through students' debate. About this it is said: "If you labored and did not find [success], do not believe."
