In response to your letter in which you write about the incident where someone who prays Nusach Ari led the prayers in a synagogue where the congregation prays Nusach Ashkenaz, and you write that they protested against him. You add your own opinion that the question arises because of "Lo Tisgodedu" (do not form separate groups), etc.
If "Lo Tisgodedu" applies here, this issue has been discussed for many years. See Rosh Yevamot 14a, the two answers there, and the rulings of the Rosh there in the commentaries on Shulchan Aruch Orach Chaim siman 293 (Magen Avraham section 6 and others), and elsewhere. See also the ruling of tzt"z Orach Chaim on siman 236, where there is an account from great leaders of Israel (and notes there) that this does not constitute a prohibition. See there.
In matters such as these, the main thing is to avoid disputes—something forbidden by all opinions according to Torah law. Peace is so great that the entire Torah was given to bring peace into the world (see Rambam at the end of Hilchot Chanukah).
Incidentally, regarding switching between Nusach Ashkenaz, Sefard, and Ari—this too has been discussed at length and is cited in responsa noted in footnotes. There is an account that Maharan Adler (and Baal HaHafla'ah) led prayers in Nusach Sefard while his minyan prayed Nusach Ashkenaz (see Responsa Chatam Sofer Orach Chaim 15). In Responsa Meshiv Davar by Netziv and Sefer Pardes Mordechai quoting Baal Etz Chaim, it says that the shaliach tzibbur should pray aloud according to the synagogue's nusach. I do not have access to see if they brought up this account or their resolution.
See also Responsa Maharshadam Orach Chaim, Responsa Chatam Sofer mentioned above, Minchat Elazar I:11 (and many other books discussing this), whose conclusion is that it is permitted to change from Ashkenaz to Sefard or Ari but not vice versa. See there.
Summary
The Rebbe teaches that while halachic sources discuss prayer nusach differences, maintaining peace and avoiding disputes within the community takes precedence over technical concerns about prayer customs.
