הנני בזה לאשר קבלת מכתבו מי"ג תמוז, וכן הכתבי-יד שנשלחו על ידי ר' פנחס שי' אלטהויז.
בטח ידוע לכ' כי כתבי-יד אלה לא של אביו ז"ל הם, אלא מאמרים שהעתיק ושנאמרו בזמנים שונים, ולכן לא נכון להדפיסם כמו שהם, אף שמאמרים של תקופה זו נכללים בתכנית שמקוים אנו סוף כל סוף להדפיס לזכות הרבים כשיבוא תורם וכפי שירשה הזמן והאמצעים הגשמיים. אבל גם עד אז הנה הכתבים משמשים להבהיר ענינים דמאמרים אחרים ההולכים ונדפסים, וכמאמר חכמינו ז"ל הידוע, דברי תורה עניים במקום זה ועשירים במקום אחר. ולכן זכות הרבים תלוי בו כבר מעכשיו.
אתענין לדעת אם שמורים בזכרונו סיפורי אביו ז"ל מבקוריו אצל רבותינו הנשיאים, אשר אפשר שיש בהם גם תוכן מענין בשביל הרבים.

I hereby acknowledge receipt of your letter from the 13th of Tammuz, as well as the manuscripts sent through Reb Pinchas Altahaiz.
You are surely aware that these manuscripts are not your father's original writings of blessed memory, but rather discourses he copied down that were delivered at various times. Therefore, it is not proper to publish them as they are, even though discourses from this period are included in the plan we ultimately hope to publish for the benefit of the public when their turn comes and as time and material means allow.
Nevertheless, even until then, these writings serve to clarify matters in other discourses that are being published. As our Sages famously said: "Divrei Torah ani'im b'makom zeh v'ashirim b'makom acher" (Words of Torah may be sparse in one place but abundant in another). Therefore, the merit for the public already depends on you from now.
I am interested to know if you remember any stories from your father of blessed memory about his visits to our Rebbeim—the leaders—which might also contain content of interest for the public.

Summary
