Your letter from before Rosh HaShanah was received in its time, and there simply was not an opportunity to respond until now. Surely in the meantime you received my letter with the blessing for the year.

I enjoyed what you wrote about the farbrengen and the words of encouragement that were spoken then. Certainly, you utilized the days of the month of Tishrei—which is the general month for the entire year—and as our Sages say, one is endowed with all good things, to strengthen and increase this awakening. The main thing is that it should continue throughout the entire year. Even though every single day requires its own service in this area—as explained in Likkutei Torah at the end of Parshas Korach regarding the difference between judgment on Rosh HaShanah and that which occurs every day—it is understood that first and foremost one must focus on this during Rosh HaShanah and in Tishrei, which is the head month of the year. The merit of the many assists all those who are involved in this work.

I conclude in the language of my father-in-law, my revered teacher and master, may his merit protect us: "Have a healthy winter," for you and your wife—may she live—and with success in all of the above.

Summary

The Rebbe teaches that inspiration from a farbrengen should be strengthened during Tishrei and sustained throughout the year through ongoing effort. Involvement for communal benefit brings special merit and blessing.
