במכתבי מער"ח תמוז כתבתי ע"ד הזכות והחובה להשתתף בהשגת האמצעים למשרדים המרכזיים של המל"ח מחנה וקה"ת שזהו ע"ע עבודתו הפרטית והאישית של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר הכ"מ אבל לא שללתי כלל וכלל את העסק בעניני החנוך וחיזוק היהדות על אתר, ולכן תמה אני על שבדעתו לחדל ממה שעסק עד עתה ולהחזיר הכסף למנדבים וכו' ואבקשו שלא לאחז בקצוות, אלא לעבוד בסדר מסודר באופן הנאות לשתי המטרות גם יחד...

In response to your letter from the 14th of Menachem Av: In my letter from the eve of Rosh Chodesh Tammuz, I wrote about the merit and obligation to participate in providing resources for the central offices of Machane and Kehot, which is currently the private and personal work of my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe hk"m. However, I did not at all negate involvement in matters of education and strengthening Judaism locally. Therefore, I am surprised that you intend to stop your previous activities and return the money to donors, etc. I ask you not to take extreme positions but rather to work in an orderly manner appropriate for both objectives together…

Summary
The Rebbe teaches that supporting central institutions does not preclude local educational efforts. Both are vital and should be pursued together in a balanced way, without abandoning one for the other.
