- ומה שכותב אודותי, הנה מה מועילה הכתיבה, אז איך האב דאס ניט, פארט. איך אף זיך - דארף דאך ניט זוכען קיין רמזים ופירושים. ומספיקה בשבילי התבוננות קלה בנדו"ז במעמדי ומצבי, כדי צו וויסען בא וואס מען האלט, איז וואס קען דא משנה זיין אנאנדערער מיט ראיות ושכל? אלא, וואס וועט זיין? - איז וואס ווייס איך, וואס דער רבי טראכט, עס איז זיינע אחריות, וועט ער עס זיכער פארזארגען. ווי אזוי - ווייס איך ניט. דא נאך זאכן וואס איך ווייס ניט.

Your letter from the 25th of Iyar has just been received. I was very pleased with what you wrote, mentioning my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe hk"m—may he be well. This is understood according to what is written in Iggeres HaKodesh section 27: that the life of a tzaddik is spiritual—faith and love and awe of Heaven. It is known that a tzaddik always goes from strength to strength.
Regarding what you write about me: what does writing help? If I do not have it—so be it. I search myself—I do not need to look for hints or explanations. A little contemplation on this matter regarding my situation suffices for me to know where I stand; so what can another person change here with proofs or logic?
Rather—what will be? So what do I know? What does the Rebbe think? It is his responsibility; he will surely take care of it. How? I do not know. There are other things I do not know.
I will conclude with blessings for the festival to him and his entire family (the names you write should be mentioned at the Ohel). With all good and success in his work from now on.
