Shalom u'Vrachah!

In response to your letter in which you ask for details regarding the lineage to which you belong, as far as I know, this is a branch of your ancestral tree. Due to the preoccupations of Pesach, my reply was delayed until now:

Moshe Menuhin: His father: Yitzchak Isaac Menuhin. His mother: Sarah Liba. Her father: Shneur Zalmanzon. Her mother: Perla Devorah.

Perla Devorah Zalmanzon: Her father: Admor Reb Yisrael Nach Schneersohn of Nizhyn. Her mother: Freida, daughter of Rebbetzin Bila, daughter of the Mitteler Rebbe.

Admor Reb Yisrael Nach of Nizhyn: His father: Admor Reb Menachem Mendel Schneersohn, author of the tzt"z (Tzemach Tzedek), son of Devorah Leah, daughter of the Alter Rebbe, author of Tanya and Shulchan Aruch. His mother: Rebbetzin Chaya Mushka, daughter of the Mitteler Rebbe, son of the Alter Rebbe.

His maternal grandmother Perla Devorah was a sister to Reb Avraham Schneersohn who was the father of my mother-in-law Rebbetzin Nechama Dina tichyeh, wife of my father-in-law Admor hk"m.

His aforementioned maternal grandmother lived in Lubavitch, and his trip to Lubavitch in his youth was apparently to his aforementioned grandparents' home, whose family name was Zalmanzon and not Schneersohn.

From all the above it follows that his connection to the Schneersohn dynasty is through his maternal grandmother Perla Devorah.

You have surely heard details about the passing of my father-in-law Admor hk"m. The sense of responsibility among all family members is now greater than before since in a certain sense the work has become heavier.

It is self-evident that each and every family member—both from sons and daughters—must add strength and energy to fulfill their part in realizing the purpose set by the founders and standard-bearers of the family—their aspiration and path in life in every generation.
