In response to your letter: The total sum you collected for Reb Shachna Kesselman was received, and he was informed of this in due time.

Enclosed is a Purim booklet to merit the public with it.

Again, I wish to emphasize the utmost necessity to arrange that at least an appeal be made in your community for the benefit of the melamedim who are in great financial distress—or at least that the melamedim participate in an appeal (if there is no free day) with a significant percentage. The days of Nissan are auspicious for such matters.

Of course, this is in addition to efforts with private individuals regarding general donations or for printing, etc., etc. Surely there is also a Federation or other organizations in Baltimore upon whom you can influence to allocate support for the melamedim. They will surely take note as well that we do not send emissaries to Baltimore, and after all, we will inevitably need this too—so why should they have to increase their expenses? Further elaboration is unnecessary.

Certainly you will do all you can, and based on the letter printed at the end of the enclosed booklet, your words will be heard and successful. Please inform me of good news about action in actual deed that is truly elevated.
