The verse says that man is like a tree of the field; Israel is the vineyard of Hashem Tzevaos, and the fruits are the children—sons and daughters. How great is the responsibility of the leader and gardener to whom the owner has entrusted his vineyard! Therefore, our Sages said that teaching children is called "the work of Hashem," and how great is his merit whom Hashem has appointed as guardian of His vineyard.

We see that every improvement, even a small one, in a seed causes much beauty and praise in the tree that grows from it.
