We received both of your letters with thanks, and you have surely already received the essays and pamphlets we sent you. Enclosed with this letter is a clipping from the "Morgen Journal," which contains an article about the work of "Machane Yisrael." Since the days of Elul and the upcoming Days of Awe are especially appropriate for promoting spiritual matters that "Machane Yisrael" is involved in, please endeavor that already in these days the attached article or a similar one will be printed in the newspaper "The Canadian Eagle." Our strong hope is that you, together with your colleagues, will immediately begin energetic work in all areas of "Machane Yisrael," for it is truly a time to act, and may Hashem assist you.

I will outline here some main points for this important work: a) To post on synagogue walls the sichah from Acharon Shel Pesach. It would be good if before Rosh Hashanah they print all or part of this sichah in the newspaper; b) To send a letter about Tehillim Societies to every synagogue in your province. In synagogues where you have acquaintances, it is worthwhile to include a personal letter from you as well; c) To spread the idea of purifying the air by reciting words of Torah by heart everywhere, especially Mishnayos by heart; d) To use the days of Selichos and the upcoming Ten Days of Repentance for outreach in synagogues and similar places, awakening people to teshuvah, announcing that this is a time of Chevlei Mashiach (birth pangs of Mashiach) and immediate redemption through immediate teshuvah and similar themes. Of course, all this should be adapted to your country's and community's conditions, relying on your understanding.

If this will benefit your work, you may announce that there is a branch of Machane Yisrael in your province at such-and-such address... (if possible not at the yeshivah residence—this would emphasize that it is not at all a partisan matter). You have been appointed as president and spokesperson for Machane Yisrael in your province. Although generally it is good for everyone to be directly connected here [to New York], so that any difficult matter can be clarified immediately with my father-in-law, the Rebbe shlita.

We are preparing a collection of letters from my father-in-law, the Rebbe shlita on these topics; as soon as it is printed we will send it to you—please let us know how many copies to send.
