...ובטח למותר להעיר לדכוותי' אשר לקבלת ברכות שמים מעל צריכים להיות כלים רחבים מתחת, וכל אחד השייך לתורה, הרי כלים רחבים שלו היא התורה הארוכה מני ארץ ורחבה מני ים, ובלבד שעפ"י מרז"ל (שבת לא, סוף ע"א) הנה צריך להיות ערוב קב חומטין שעי"ז הוא קיום התורה שלו. וכמבואר ביומא עב: שצריך השתדלות שיהי' באופן של זכה נעשה לו סם חיים, ובימינו אלו הוא על ידי לימוד תורת החסידות, פנימיות התורה, וזהירות בענין תפלה, אמירת תהלים וכו', וכמרז"ל בעירובין (סה, א) שמעתתא בעי צלתא דעה צלולה, והאריכות בזה אך למותר.

...And surely it is unnecessary to point out to you that in order to receive blessings from Heaven above, one must become a broad vessel below. For anyone connected to Torah, his broad vessel is the Torah itself, which is longer than the earth and wider than the sea. However, as our Sages say (Shabbos 31a, end), there must be a mixture of a kav of chometin (earthy matter), for this ensures the endurance of his Torah. As explained in Yoma 72b, effort is required so that it will be in the manner of "zacha na'aseh lo sam chaim" (if he merits, it becomes an elixir of life for him). In our days this is accomplished through learning Chassidus—the inner dimension of Torah—and carefulness in prayer, reciting Tehillim, etc., as our Sages say in Eruvin (65a): "A teaching requires clear-mindedness." Further elaboration on this is unnecessary.
