בעתו קבלתי מכתבו משלהי תשרי, ונהניתי לקרות בו אשר משתתף הוא בשיעורי תורה ברבים בבית הכנסת שלהם, והם לימוד משניות ופרק תניא,
בטח שמע מפתגם כ"ק אדמו"ר מוהר"ש נ"ע, אשר כמה פעמים חזר עליו כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע, והוא: "צי אז גוט איז גוט, איז בעסער ניט בעסער" ולכן באתי בהצעתי אשר יקח עליו שיעור בלימוד הגמרא, ובודאי ידוע לו מאמרו של כ"ק אדמו"ר מוהר"ש נ"ע, שכל אחד ואחד צריך ללמוד בכל יום תורה שבכתב עם פרש"י, שהוא תרומות מדרשי רז"ל, ונאום ה' תורה שבע"פ כמ"ש בהלכות תלמוד תורה ובאגרת הקדש שלכל הפחות צריך כל אחד ללמוד מס' גמרא בשנה, ובטח ישנה במחנו החוברת שנדפסה לכ"ד טבת ה'תשי"א, יעיין שם בסוף החוברת.
וכן מהנכון אשר בכל שבוע ושבוע ילמוד איזה דרושים פון דער חסידישער סדרה, היינו בימות החורף בתורה אור ובימות הקיץ בלקוטי תורה מדרושי פרשת השבוע. וידוע בכ"מ מרז"ל אשר התורה היא כלי להמשכת וקבלת כל הברכות בגשמיות וברוחניות.

Shalom u'Vrachah!
I received your letter from the end of Tishrei in due time, and I was pleased to read that you participate in public Torah classes at your synagogue, specifically in Mishnayot and a chapter of Tanya.
You have surely heard the saying of the Rebbe Maharash, which was often repeated by my father-in-law, the Rebbe: "If good is good, better is not better." Therefore, I suggest that you take upon yourself a class in Gemara study.
Surely you know the teaching of the Rebbe Maharash that everyone should learn every day from Torah Shebichtav with Rashi (which includes selections from Midrashim of our Sages), and also Torah Sheba'al Peh as stated in Hilchot Talmud Torah and Iggeret HaKodesh—that at least everyone should learn a tractate of Gemara each year. Certainly, you have in your community the booklet printed for 24 Tevet 5711; look at the end of that booklet.
It is also proper that every week you study some discourses from the Chassidic series—during winter from Torah Or and during summer from Likkutei Torah on the weekly parsha.
It is well known from our Sages everywhere that Torah is the vessel for drawing down and receiving all blessings both materially and spiritually.

The Rebbe teaches that while participating in communal Torah study is praiseworthy, one should always strive to add more—especially daily Gemara learning and regular Chassidic study—as these are channels for both material and spiritual blessings.
