במענה על מכתבו מי"ז שבט, בו מבקש עזר בסידור נאומים שיוכל לנאום לפני עדתו וכו',
הנה קשה להורות חומר לדרוש המתאים בשביל קהלתו כיון שאינו מתאר את מהותם (סוחרים, מלומדים, צעירים, זקנים וכיו"ב), ודרישותיהם מה שהם מחפשים בדרשתו של הרב. אבל, בכלל, יוכל למצוא בהקריאה והקדושה חומר מספיק לסוגים שונים של אחב"י באמריקא. ולדוגמא: כשרות (ישנו שם מאמר גם באנגלית), תפקידם של הנשים (בקול קורא לנשים), ענין הגלות והגאולה וכו' וכו'. כן ישנו שם המשך על כל הסדרות ועל כל ההפטרות אשר יוכל להשתמש בו על כל פנים בתור יסוד וחומר לבנין דרשה.
אם יש ברעיונו איזה נושא מיוחד שרוצה לדרוש אודותיו ומחפש מקורות ומראה-מקומות בהשייך אליו, מטובו להודיעני ואשתדל בזה.
לפלא שאין מזכיר מאומה ע"ד חיים הדתיים של קהלתו, ופעולותיו להחזקת היהדות ואפילו בהפצת מעינות דא"ח. סו"ס "גם" זה מוטל עליו, ובודאי ניתנו לו הכוחות למלא תפקיד זה, וכשיתחיל - יצליח.

In response to your letter from 17 Shevat, in which you request assistance in preparing sermons to deliver before your congregation, etc., it is difficult to instruct on suitable material for your community since you do not describe their nature (merchants, scholars, youth, elders, etc.), nor what they seek in their rabbi's sermon. However, in general, you can find sufficient material for various types of our Jewish brethren in America within the readings and sanctity. For example: kashrus (there is also an article in English), the role of women (in a proclamation to women), the topic of exile and redemption, etc., etc.
There is also a series covering all the Torah portions and all the haftaros which you can use at least as a foundation and material for constructing a sermon. If you have a particular topic in mind that you wish to speak about and are seeking sources and references related to it, please let me know and I will endeavor to assist.
It is surprising that you do not mention anything regarding the religious life of your congregation or your activities to strengthen Judaism—even in spreading the wellsprings of Chassidus. After all, "this too" is incumbent upon you, and surely you have been given the abilities to fulfill this role; when you begin—you will succeed.
