Shalom u'Vrachah!

In response to your letter informing me that a shidduch has been suggested to you and that the father of the girl in question is named Avraham, and you ask my opinion regarding the matter of the names.

See the glosses of Mekor Chesed on Tzava'at Rabbi Yehudah HaChasid, which cites those who permit this: Chasam Sofer Yoreh Deah section 238 and Even HaEzer part I section 16, She'eilas Moshe section 169, Divrei Chaim Even HaEzer section 8, Imrei Esh Yoreh Deah end of section, Totu"d Telitai section 263, Kinas Sofrim in omissions section 26, Yad Shaul part II section 240 paragraph 4, Pitchei Teshuvah Even HaEzer section 2 paragraph 7 and Sifsei Nedarim paragraph 14 and others.

And for us, we have only the ruling of our Rebbe the tzt"z (Shut Even HaEzer part I section 143; ruling for Yoreh Deah section 216), that since "the names are not exactly identical there is absolutely no concern at all," see there. However, it should be established that when he is called up to the Torah and signs documents etc., he should not use only the name Avraham alone but also his other names (both or at least one of them).
