I received your letter from Erev Shabbat Kodesh, 23 Tammuz in due time. Surely by now the letters for Mr. Elmalich, Grass, and Dawila—which I wrote in connection with the days of the Festival of Redemption—have also arrived; perhaps they need further explanation. For this I rely on your understanding.

You write that regarding Yud-Beis Tammuz there is no one to speak with in your camp. This is not correct; surely there are people—otherwise you would not have come there. It just requires more searching. Since the measure of good exceeds that of punishment, and if regarding searching for chametz our Sages greatly emphasized searching even in holes and cracks (at the beginning of Pesachim), how much more so when searching for good—that every Jew must strive accordingly. Then without a doubt one will find much more than initially estimated—and certainly more than what appears to fleshly eyes before starting.

It is often necessary here to know precisely the number of institutions and approximately also the number of students—both boys and girls—in each one. Since according to your work new institutions are added from time to time, please inform me immediately each time an institution is added, along with any details you have about it. Thank you in advance.

Regarding financial matters from the Joint (the Joint Distribution Committee), there is much anguish involved; but my strong hope is that even now my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe—who continues to direct affairs and will do so even more than during his lifetime—will bring about success. As explained in the booklet for Yud-Beis Tammuz this year: success beyond nature within nature.

When I was at the resting place of my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe zatzal (may his merit protect us), on Erev Rosh Chodesh Menachem Av, I mentioned you and your wife for all your needs; may you be blessed very soon with all good things both materially and spiritually.

It is somewhat surprising that you did not mention your wife's health status in your letter; according to the custom of old chassidim this is a sign that all is well. Surely in your next letter you will write about this explicitly—and so too should both your heart and hers be confident that my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe, bestows blessing and success upon those engaged in fulfilling his mission; may both of you report good news about this.

Enclosed is a transcript of what I said to the students traveling to outlying cities on missions to strengthen Judaism; perhaps you can use this material for your work locally as appropriate.

It would be proper to investigate whether there is a newspaper in your area where it would be possible to print articles related specifically to our work or generally about Torah and Chassidus. Of course it does not matter if it would also be in the local language; on the contrary—it is an advantage since it increases readership.

Your letter from Rosh Chodesh Menachem Av has just been received. Thank you for sending books on Kabbalah. Please make every effort going forward—in both Kabbalah works and revealed Torah—the more sent the better. Not only old ones but any printed in Africa, Asia, etc.
