וויל איך אייך בעטן שרייבן און אנזאגן אייער זון וועגען זייער אפהיטן לייגען תפילין אלע טאג, און שיקט אים דעם בייגעלייגטען מעסעדזש פון כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר,- שרייבט מיר אויך דעם נאמען פון זיין מוטער -, און השם יתברך זאל היטן אייער זון שי' און ער זאל צוריק קומען אהיים געזונטערהייט.
עס אינטערעסירט מיר אויך צו וויסן, צי עס זיינען פאראן שיעורים ברבים אין אייער שול, איז דא א מנין אלע טאג, און אויב מען זאגט תהלים נאכן דאוונען יעדען טאג אין דער פריה.
בייגעלייגט זיינען קבלות אויף דעם סכום וואס איר האט געשיקט. "לשכת חשאין" איז דאס די קופה, וועלכע איז נתייסד געווארן דורך כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר, און פון וועלכער מען העלפט מענשן וואס שעמען זיך נעמען צדקה בגלוי.
די ארבעט אין צפון אפריקא, איז אנגעהויבען געווארן לויט די אנווייזונגען פון כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר וועלכע ער האט אונז געגעבען פאר די הסתלקות, און עס זיינען דארטן שוין דא, א ישיבה גדולה, ישיבה קטנה, בית מדרש למורים, תלמוד תורה'ס פאר אינגעלאך, בתי ספר פאר מיידלאך, שיעורי ערב וכו'.
די ארבעט האט זיך ערשט אנגעהויבן און מען דארף האבן גרויסע סומען אויף ממשיך זיין איר, און השי"ת וועט העלפען בהצלחה.

Shalom u'Vrachah!
In response to your letter where you request a blessing for your son... may he live, who is in the army: I would like to ask you to write and inform your son about the importance of putting on tefillin every day, and send him the enclosed message from my father-in-law, the Previous Rebbe. Also write me his mother's name. May Hashem Yisbarach protect your son—may he live—and may he return home safely.
I am also interested to know whether there are public Torah classes in your shul, if there is a daily minyan, and if Tehillim is recited after davening every morning.
Enclosed are receipts for the amount you sent. "Lishkas Chashain" is the fund established by my father-in-law, the Previous Rebbe, from which help is given to people who are embarrassed to take charity openly.
The work in North Africa was started according to the instructions that my father-in-law gave us before his passing. There already exist there a large yeshivah, a small yeshivah, a teachers' beis midrash, Talmud Torahs for boys, schools for girls, evening classes, etc. The work has only just begun and large sums are needed to continue it; may Hashem help with success.
