המצווה הש"ט
האזהרה שהזהרנו מלזרוע ומלעבוד את האדמה בנחל איתן שנערפה בו העגלה.
והוא אמרו: "אשר לא יעבד בו ולא יזרע" (דברים כא, ד).
והעובר על זה - לוקה.
ובגמרא מכות כשהזכירו מחייבי מלקות אמרו: "והא איכא זורע לנחל איתן, ואזהרתיה מהכא: 'אשר לא יעבד בו ולא יזרע'?"
הנה נתבאר, שזו אזהרה אחת, ושהיא במלקות.
וכבר נתבארו דיני מצווה זו בסוף סוטה.
The 309th Mitzvah
1. The prohibition by which we were warned against sowing or working the land in the rugged valley (nachal eisan) where the calf's neck was broken.
2. This is His statement: "אשר לא יעבד בו ולא יזרע" ("which shall not be worked or sown," Devarim 21:4).
3. One who transgresses this is punished with lashes.
4. In the Gemara, Makkos, when they listed those liable to lashes, they said: "והא איכא זורע לנחל איתן, ואזהרתיה מהכא: 'אשר לא יעבד בו ולא יזרע'?" ("But there is also one who sows in a nachal eisan, whose warning is from here: 'which shall not be worked or sown'?" Makkos).
5. Thus it is clear that this is a single prohibition, and that it is punishable by lashes.
