Women's Group for Family Purity in Philadelphia (פרויען גרופע פאר טהרת המשפחה אין פילאדעלפיא) is a community initiative dedicated to promoting the observance of Taharas HaMishpacha (family purity) and ensuring the proper maintenance of the local mikveh in Philadelphia. The Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, expressed heartfelt encouragement and blessings to the Women's Group for Family Purity in Philadelphia upon learning of their founding and their efforts to organize and expand their membership. In his letter, the Rebbe highlighted the vital importance of both explaining the significance of Taharas HaMishpacha and ensuring that the mikveh is proper in every respect.
The Rebbe emphasized the teaching of his father-in-law, the previous Rebbe, that "serious outreach brings results, and even one action is better than thousands of sighs." He encouraged the group to continue their practical activities, expressing hope that their circle of participants would grow and that their work would meet with great success.
Writing as the month of Kislev approached, the Rebbe drew inspiration from the story of Chanukah, recalling how one of the decrees in ancient times was to prevent Jews from maintaining mikvaos. He noted the miracle that Jewish women were able to uphold this mitzvah and establish blessed generations. The Rebbe blessed the group that their efforts should likewise be crowned with outstanding success, "as it was then, so may it be now," and concluded with warm blessings for their continued achievements in strengthening Jewish family life.
