אמוראים (Amoraim) refers to the Jewish sages who lived during the period following the Tannaim and contributed to the development of the Talmud. The era of the Amoraim spans roughly from the 3rd to the 6th century CE. These sages were primarily responsible for discussing, explaining, and interpreting the Mishnah (compiled by the Tannaim), and their teachings and debates are recorded in the Talmud Bavli (Babylonian Talmud) and the Talmud Yerushalmi (Jerusalem Talmud).
