Studying Tanya, Reviewing Past Letters, and Expressing Gratitude to Hashem

The Rebbe instructs the recipient to study relevant chapters in Tanya and review previous letters he wrote. He asks if the recipient has recognized Hashem's kindness in his affairs and whether he has expressed gratitude and increased in fear and love of Hashem.

: הראה חסדי ה' בעניניו? באם הן – ההודה לה' ע"ז ע"י הוספה ביר"ש וכיו"ב? היעשה כן עתה?

He should study in Tanya the chapters that discuss these matters. Also, if he has copies of the letters he wrote to me several years ago, he should read them properly and make an honest accounting: Has he seen the kindnesses of Hashem in his affairs? If so—did he thank Hashem for this with an increase in awe and love of Him? Will he do so now?


Summary

The Rebbe teaches that one should reflect on past Divine kindnesses, express gratitude to Hashem, and use this as a catalyst for spiritual growth through increased awe and love of G‑d.
