בהמשך לביקורו של מר ושיחתנו, זה עתה קבלתי מכתבו מכ"ז בתמוז.
והנני מודה לו מאד על נכונותו לבוא לעזר המורים שיפנו אליו להדריכם ולעזור להם באופן האפשרי וכו'. אלא שעלי להעיר במה שכותב בענין הבגרות שאמנם דרושה זאת, שלדעתי
הכל
מודים שזהו לא מצד הענינים עצמם, כי אם מפני חוק – והרי הכל מודים גם בזה שהחוקים צריכים להסתגל ולהשתנות בהתאם לדרישת המצב

ולא המצב בהתאם להחוקים, שזהו היסוד והתכלית של חוקי בני אדם.

לששון ולשמחה בגאולת כל עם ישראל כולו, גאולת הכלל והפרט גם יחד, כולל הענינים שדברנו אודותם, ועד לקיום

Following your visit and our conversation, I have just received your letter from the 7th of Tammuz. I thank you very much for your willingness to come to the aid of the teachers who will turn to you for guidance and to help them in any possible way, etc.
However, I must comment regarding what you wrote about the bagrut (matriculation) exams: indeed they are necessary; in my opinion everyone agrees that this is not because of the matters themselves but due to the law—and everyone also agrees that laws must adapt and change according to present needs, not that circumstances must conform to the laws; this is the foundation and purpose of human legislation.
As we stand during the days of Bein HaMetzarim (the Three Weeks), may it be G‑d's will that they be transformed into joy and gladness with the redemption of all Israel as a whole—both collectively and individually—including those matters we discussed, up to the fulfillment of the prophecy: 'Ve'eshbor motot olchem ve'olech etchem komemiyut' ("And I will break the bars of your yoke and lead you upright") in the true and complete redemption through Moshiach Tzidkeinu.
