To all participants in the 14th annual banquet of the Beis Rivka School for Girls in Montreal, may Hashem be upon them and grant them life—Shalom u'Vrachah!

With this I send my greetings and blessings to all participants, honored guests, and friends of the Beis Rivka School on the occasion of this annual banquet. May Hashem Yisbarach help that this undertaking should be with great success.

This celebration, which takes place tomorrow after Yud Tes Kislev—the Festival of Redemption of the Alter Rebbe, author of Tanya and Shulchan Aruch and founder of Chabad—will certainly add special significance to this event. For it is well known that the Alter Rebbe placed the greatest emphasis on education in general, including also the upbringing of Jewish daughters.

Also in the family of the Alter Rebbe there was a tradition of learned women, even though in those years this was generally an exception, as circumstances then did not strongly require it—as is told in the memoirs of Chana Kuperman MeHaChassidim, the Rebbe Rayatz zatzal (may his merit protect us).

And since this has been told and described to us with many details, it is a sign that this is an instruction—that so it should be—especially in our times when the entire conduct of a Jewish home depends greatly on the woman and mother who is titled as akeres habayis—the foundation of the Jewish home.

Therefore it is a particularly vital necessity that Jewish daughters should be well prepared for their most important life mission. This is indeed the purpose of Beis Rivka School for Girls, and therefore it is a primary duty as well as a great merit to help support and expand Beis Rivka School.

And those who have a share in this will surely be blessed with all good things—and especially with true Jewish nachas from their own children and grandchildren (may they live), with good health and success both materially and spiritually.
