אחרי ההפסק הכי ארוך נעם לי לקבל מכתבו (עם המצורף בו) ולהוודע אשר השלום אתו וב"ב שיחיו, וכן ע"ד עבודתו ופעולותיו. ותקותי חזקה שאף שבאופן רשמי הרי זה בי"ס לעבודה סוציאלית שהוא מנהל, איננו מסתפק בהדרכה שתלמידי ביה"ס יעריכו היטב "הנקודה היהודית", כי אם ועיקר אשר נקודה זו תתפשט על כל השטח כולו ולכל לראש בנוגע למעשים בפועל בחיי היום-יום, שהרי

דין חכמינו ז"ל המעשה הוא העיקר. ולא עוד אלא שביאר הרמב"ם מורה הנבוכים בזמנו וגם נבוכי הדורות, ובלשונו אשר "כפי המעשים הטובים פעמים רבות עם זה יגיע קנין חזק" (פירוש המשניות, אבות פ"ג משנה ט"ו, הובא ונתבאר עפ"י סגנונו על ידי רבנו הזקן באגה"ק סי' כ"א). ובודאי לדכוותי' דמר אשר נסיון רב הי' לו בארצות הברית בהדרכת בנ"י בכלל ובהדרכת הנוער בפרט, האריכות בהאמור אין בה צורך.

After the longest break, I was pleased to receive your letter (with its enclosure) and to learn that you and yours are well, as well as about your work and activities.
My strong hope is that even though officially this is in the context of social work which you direct, you are not satisfied with merely guiding students so that they appreciate the Jewish point; rather—and most importantly—that this point spreads over the entire area, especially regarding actual deeds in daily life. For as our Sages ruled: action is the main thing. Moreover, Rambam explained in Moreh Nevuchim regarding his time and also for those confused in later generations—in his words: through good deeds one often attains a strong acquisition (see Pirush HaMishnayos on Avos 3:9, as brought and explained according to his style by Rabbeinu HaZaken in Iggeres HaKodesh sec. 21).
Certainly for your honor—who has much experience in America guiding Jews in general and youth in particular—there is no need to elaborate on this.
With respect and blessings for success in all the above, and with wishes for a joyous festival—and to continue this joy throughout the entire year.
It was especially pleasing for me to see from your address that you live in Bnei Brak. My strong hope is that this symbolizes your true dwelling is in Bnei Brak and that its spirit will influence the institution; one who comes to purify is assisted from Above.
