Mr. Tzvi, known as Dr. Harcavi.
Shalom u'Vrachah!
I acknowledge receipt of your letter in which you also write that recently you have not published anything. This is even more surprising than my initial surprise when I said you had published but had not sent it here.
I read with interest about your relatives who are there, etc., and on a related note, allow me to quote here one of the points discussed on this topic, based on the ruling that all Israel is one complete body. Just as with a physical body, strengthening the health of any limb adds to the health of all other limbs, so too with individual members of this complete body. The immediate conclusion is that increasing Torah and mitzvot—especially in practical action, which is primary—by fulfilling daily mitzvot (which are vital and foundational for all Jews; as their name implies: Torah of Life and about its mitzvot it is said "and you shall live by them"), certainly adds to the "health" of every single Jew. Physical distance does not interrupt this at all; as above, this is a definite and tangible help both for oneself and for success in other efforts.
Specifically regarding this kind of help—no one else deals with it or even speaks about it. And for this assistance there is no need for gatherings or votes or majority opinion because everyone has free choice in this matter and can add more and more—including influencing others to draw them closer to Torah and mitzvot. Through this one helps all Jews wherever they are—both in Eretz HaKodesh (the Holy Land) and in the Diaspora—for everyone needs help, even if not in the same area or to the same degree.
These days are auspicious days—the days of Sefirah—which connect the time of our freedom with the days of receiving the Torah, preceded by "we will do" before "we will hear," acceptance together with assurance—engraved on the tablets.
With honor and blessing.
Summary
The Rebbe teaches that every Jew's spiritual growth uplifts all others; by increasing Torah study and mitzvah observance—and inspiring others—we strengthen Jewish unity everywhere without needing communal consensus.
