Mr. A.M. Haberman shiyichyeh
Shalom u'Vrachah!
The booklet Shaarei Chabad, edited by you, came into the hands of the Rebbe shlita (and it is surprising that you did not find it necessary to send it to the library of the Rebbe shlita). The Rebbe shlita reviewed it and noted several comments in the margins, which we hereby copy for you; surely they will be of benefit to you. They are listed according to the order of the book list by their numbers:
4 – A plan not yet realized.
5 – Shemot section: Only Parashat Shemot is included here; Va'era and Bo are currently in print.
9 – Facsimile from Kapust print.
13 – Only the request letter is included; printed based on comparison of two manuscripts—in the publisher's introduction it states that the author is the Mitteler Rebbe, not his father, the Alter Rebbe.
41–42 – This is a note by the Rebbe (Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak) zatzal from Lubavitch; he wanted it printed anonymously.
42 – Also published in translation into Lashon HaKodesh with additions in Eretz HaKodesh.
47 – Page 307, line 11: "gimel dalet" should be "gimel kaf" (long kaf)—see similarly a letter from the Rebbe (Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak) of Lubavitch printed at the end of Tanya notes p.120.
52 – Page 310, line 16: "chet dapim tes".
55* – At its end: Iggeret HaKodesh—apparently should be Iggeret HaTeshuvah.
82 – At its end: Mishnat Tars; several details were corrected therein; for example: The word "Perek" was omitted at the head of each section in Iggeret HaKodesh.
85 – Printed in Ashkenaz near Munich, not Brooklyn.
93 – Some parsha names are only Parashat Beshalach (Discourse I) and Parashat Pekudei (two discourses). Discourses on Sefer Shemot—except for Pekudei—appear in Torah Or.
94 – The approbations are for Likkutei Torah and not for the additions.
98 – Printed with special corrections (according to Rabbi Anshil Aranowitz hy"d who worked on this—they corrected nearly three thousand errors!); at its end is a correction table.
99 – Correction table omitted.
100 – Same as 98, not as 8.
108, 108, 108, 107, 106, 105, 104, 102—all are facsimiles from manuscripts of Reb Shmuel Sofer also called Reb Shmuel der Shreiber.
109 – Includes also collected letters etc. from our master the Alter Rebbe—the author of Tanya—from his son the Mitteler Rebbe and from sons of tzt"z etc.
116 – Still in print.
121–(4), 58,(6) pages.
133–132—error; they are actually page 131'.
179–182—there are discourses printed in one but not in another; generally there are several differences between these Haggadot editions.
201—On page v,a..: This is a letter by the Alter Rebbe printed in his Iggeret HaKodesh section 27.
226—with an introduction and long list by our master the Rebbe (Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak) zatzal from Lubavitch.
229—the organized transcription based on names is now held by Kehot Publication Society and being prepared for print.
230—Mimeograph not facsimile copy.
236—with two letters from his son Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak zatzal from Lubavitch attached.
251—from our master the Rebbe (Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak) zatzal from Lubavitch.
252—with notes from our master Rabbi Shalom Dovber (the Rashab) and a letter plus two notes from his son Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak zatzal from Lubavitch attached.
292—Mimeograph not facsimile copy.
(In the list of authors and editors p.369 regarding our master tzt"z we found that numbers 32 and 267 were omitted.)
In a special attached list we have recorded what has been printed by Kehot since your booklet appeared; surely you will find this useful when preparing an addition to Shaarei Chabad.
With honor and blessing,
Secretariat of our master the Rebbe shlita
