ובמ"ש במכתבו מיום הבהיר ל"ג בעומר - בהנוגע ל... הרי באם יבוא לפועל ככתבו, אהי' מוכרח להודיע עמדתה ברורה של חב"ד לשיטת הנ"ל, כמובן מתאים למכתבי כ"ק רבותינו נשיאינו, כ"ק אדמו"ר מוהרש"ב וכ"ק בנו מו"ח אדמו"ר - זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע.
ובטח יגרום זה לתגובה מכמה חוגים וכו' וכו'.
והרי שיטתי עד עתה, שכל זמן שאינני מוכרח להצהרות שעלולות להביא למלחמות [ז.א. שאינו נותן מקום לטעות], אינני עושה זה, וק"ל.
מצו"פ העתק מכתבי כללי לחה"ש, ובטח לדכוותי' אין צריך לזירוז בעניני הפצת המעינות בכלל, ובפרט בימים הסמוכים ליום ההילולא, שבלשון כ"ק אדנ"ע (ונאמר זה בהנוגע לל"ג בעומר) ביום ההסתלקות הוא הגילוי דעצם מדריגתו.

I hereby acknowledge receipt of your letter from Motzaei Shabbos Kodesh Shemini and Lag BaOmer.
As we approach the festival of Shavuos, the time of the giving of our Torah that is coming upon us and all Israel for good, I hereby express my blessing—in the words of my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe—may you receive the Torah with joy and inwardness.

P.S. Your letter from Sunday Emor with a pan was received and will be read at an auspicious time at the holy resting place of my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe.
Regarding what you wrote in your letter on Lag BaOmer concerning... if it comes to fruition as you wrote, I will be compelled to clearly state Chabad’s position on this approach, as is evident from my letters and those of our Rebbeim—my revered father-in-law and his father before him. Certainly this will provoke reactions from various circles and so on.
My approach until now has been that as long as I am not absolutely compelled to make declarations that could lead to conflict (i.e., unless there is room for misunderstanding), I refrain from doing so—and this is clear.
Enclosed is a copy of my general letter for this year’s yahrzeit. Surely you require no urging regarding spreading the wellsprings in general—and especially in these days close to the yahrzeit—since in the words of my revered father-in-law (said regarding Lag BaOmer), on the day of passing there is a revelation of one’s essential level.
