Shalom u'Vrachah!

In response to your letter from the 13th of Shevat, I am surprised and puzzled that you have not written anything about the day of the hilulah and the farbrengen. Surely something happened on this day, even though you are accustomed not to write in such cases; nevertheless, there is no established practice for such conduct, since it does not align with what our Rebbeim desired regarding the conduct of Anash, as is known from our Rebbe the Alter Rebbe on this matter, etc., up to our holy Rebbe my father-in-law, the one associated with the hilulah.

Regarding the content of your letter about the shidduch: It seems I already expressed my surprise at your haste—mainly concerning your daughter's age—and furthermore, after what you wrote that "she is an excellent teacher, and in order to receive an appropriate certificate she must study further for some time." Most importantly, your reasoning that she should become engaged now and marry after two years or a year and a half is not appropriate at all. These generations are not like previous ones; it is not right to confuse a young woman at her age with thoughts from engagement until marriage over such a long period. It is also clear that even if the wedding would be in several months, this too is not appropriate—and it seems you sense this as well.

Based on all this, let her be left to her studies and her sacred work in education according to Torah purity. May Hashem increase her success in these matters. After a year or more has passed, then consider shidduchim.

Blessings for good news,
In the name of the Lubavitcher Rebbe shlita,
Secretary

P.S. As per your request, this letter was sent without waiting for its turn.

Summary

The Rebbe teaches that important spiritual occasions should be shared and reflected upon in writing. He also advises patience regarding shidduchim for young women—prioritizing their growth and education before considering engagement or marriage.
