Shalom u'Vrachah!
In response to your letter from the 7th of Tishrei: At an auspicious time, all those you wrote about will be mentioned at the holy resting place of my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe, of blessed memory.
Regarding your statement that you did not write previously because you have nothing to do, it is indeed astonishing to hear such a reply: At a time when tens and thousands of Jews in Eretz Yisrael thirst for the word of G‑d revealed through our Rebbeim—some are aware of their thirst and some have it concealed by their bodies (and for these, the compassion must be even greater)—and you, who have merited by Divine kindness to know about our Rebbeim's teachings, write that you have nothing to do!
Certainly there is no need to elaborate further on this point—especially during our time of rejoicing when the mitzvah involves binding together four species representing four types among Jews. The central point here is that the etrog cannot fulfill its mitzvah unless it is joined with the willow; this should be understood well.
May it be G‑d's will that at least from now on you reflect and act in spreading the wellsprings outward and bring good news—true good: good for Heaven, good for people, and good that produces fruit (Kiddushin 40a).
Blessings for good news and a joyous festival.
Due to the sanctity of the festival, my revered Rebbe did not sign this letter himself; I am signing on his behalf. A. Kventz, secretary
Summary
The Rebbe teaches that every Jew has a vital role in spreading Chassidus and uplifting others. Even when one feels idle or unneeded, recognizing one's unique mission brings unity and blessing—especially during times of communal joy like Sukkos.
