I acknowledge receipt of your letter from the 21st of Menachem Av with its enclosure, in which you also write about the meeting with the representatives of Anash and its outcomes.

Since in matters of holiness we are required to always increase, it is certainly unnecessary to elaborate to you that even regarding the content of your conversation with those mentioned above, this requirement applies. And since the demand of our Torah, the Torah of Life, is also an empowerment—as explained in many places that the commandments of our holy Torah are given in language that also means a promise—if this is so for all matters, how much more so for communal matters where the merit of the many assists them.

Merit is brought about on auspicious days—days of favor like these first days of the month of Elul—when we have been assured: Ani L'Dodi (I am for my beloved—that a person begins his service towards his beloved) and Dodi Li (and especially in these matters), HaRo'eh BaShoshanim (who grazes among the lilies—those who study halachos, yeshiva matters, etc., as is understood).

With blessings for proper health and increased joy and gladness in these and all other holy activities; may you be written and sealed for good in what is visibly and manifestly good.

Summary

The Rebbe teaches that every commandment is also a promise from G‑d to empower us to fulfill it. This assurance is especially strong in communal endeavors and during auspicious times like Elul. Increasing in holiness brings blessing both spiritually and materially.
