במענה למכתבו מי"א וכ"ג שבט,
ת"ל על הבשו"ט מהטבת מצב בריאות אמו שתליט"א, ואשר מרגישה טוב, ויה"ר עס זאל גיין פון גוט צו נאך בעסער.
לפלא גדול שאינו מזכיר דבר מהשתתפותו בהתועדות דיום ההילולא, והרי תאריך מכתבו הוא למחרתו ממש, ובפרט שפעולת התועדות הרי צ"ל ניכרת במשך שבועות וחדשים שלאחרי זה, וק"ל.
במ"ש אודות עבודתם, שאף שהקימו בתי ספר בהרבה מקומות, אין פירות.
פשיטא שאסור לומר כזה, שמלבד שהלימוד, בעת מעשה - ג"כ פעולה הכי חשובה היא, בהקו דסור מרע [שאין התלמיד נמצא בהשפעה בלתי דתית], הנה גם העשה טוב, פעולה רבה היא, שהרי לומד עניני תורה ומצותי', ואי אפשר שבמשך הזמן לא תהי' מזה פעולה ועכ"פ רושם.
וזהו נוסף על הנח"ר למעלה. ובפרט כפי המבואר בתניא קדישא (סוף פרק כ"ה) ויחוד זה למעלה הוא נצחי לעולם ועד, והרי אי אפשר לדעת השינוים לטוב שיהיו בעתיד, ואפשר גם בעתיד הקרוב. שאע"פ שבעבר לא נראו פירות [כאלו שגם העובדים יכירום במוחש] הרי מכאן ולהבא ישתנה לטוב בזה, ובעניני קדושה ובפרט בעניני חינוך באה"ק ת"ו - פשיטא שאין עתה הזמן לבטלם ולסוג אחור משטחי עבודה, אף שכמובן יש מקום לדון בהנוגע להתרחבותה, שבזה המצב דלכתחלה ולא בדיעבד.
במ"ש אודות שיעורים למבוגרים, מובן שגם זה חשוב ביותר, אבל כיון שמצומצמים באמצעים, לכאורה בזה צ"ל ההשתדלות לעודד שימצאו מלמד במקום, שיקח ע"ע שיעור כהאמור, ולכה"פ יסתפק במשכורת סמלית.
חוששני שעוה"פ נוהג בהיחס שלו דעד עתה לעניני שידוכין. ומובן שמוחה הנני נגד זה שעכ"פ ישנה הנהגתו בזה מכאן ולהבא.

In response to your letter from the 11th and 23rd of Shevat, thank you for the good news about your mother's improved health—may she live a long and good life—and that she is feeling well. May it go from good to even better.
It is quite surprising that you do not mention anything about your participation in the farbrengen on the day of the hilulah, especially since your letter is dated immediately after it. Particularly since the effect of a farbrengen should be felt for weeks and months afterward. This is self-understood.
Regarding what you wrote about your work—that even though you have established schools in many places, there are no fruits—it is obvious that one must not say such a thing. Besides the fact that teaching itself is an extremely important activity at the time it is done (especially in keeping students away from negative influences), there is also much positive action: they are learning Torah subjects and mitzvos. It is impossible that over time this will not have an effect or at least leave an impression. This is in addition to the nachas ruach above.
Especially as explained in Tanya Kadisha (end of chapter 25): "And this union above is eternal forever," so it is impossible to know what positive changes will occur in the future—perhaps even soon. Even if fruits were not seen in the past (in a way that even those working would recognize them tangibly), from now on things will change for the better. In matters of holiness—and especially regarding education in Eretz HaKodesh—certainly now is not the time to cancel or withdraw from areas of work, even though there may be room to discuss expanding them; this should be approached proactively rather than reactively.
Regarding what you wrote about classes for adults: this too is very important. However, since resources are limited, it seems efforts should be made to encourage finding a teacher locally who will take on such a class as described—even if only for symbolic pay.
I am concerned that once again you are behaving as before regarding shidduchim matters. I clearly object to this and urge you to change your approach from now on.
