במענה למכתבו מכ"ב מ"ח, בו כותב אודות הגורמים המפריעים, ותקותי שההשתדלות מהלעו"ז מעוררת בהם כחות נוספים למילוי תפקידם בקדש, מלאכת שמים חינוך עטה"ק המקרב לבם של בני ישראל לאבינו שבשמים, והוא מעין המבואר באגה"ק סוף סי' כ"ה התעוררות כזו - מענין זה עצמו, כשישים אל לבו ויתבונן ענין ירידת השכינה כביכול וכו' עיי"ש, והרי הובטחנו אשר בגלל המס"נ הלזו (של רבנו הזקן) על תורת החסידות, פסקו בבי"ד של מעלה, אשר בכל ענין של תורה יראת שמים ומדות טובות, תהי' יד מקושריו והולכי בעקבותיו על העליונה...
ובהתקרבנו לחדש כסלו הוא חדש הנסים והגאולה - שמצות היום בהדלקת נר אור ובאופן דמוסיף והולך אף ששקעה החמה, הנה יהי רצון שיקוים כל זה בעבודה האמורה מתוך שמחה וטוב לבב.

In response to your letter from the 22nd of Marcheshvan, in which you write about the factors that interfere, I hope that the efforts from the side of kelipah arouse within them additional strengths to fulfill their holy role—the work of Heaven, education according to our holy Torah—which brings the hearts of the children of Israel closer to our Father in Heaven. This is similar to what is explained at the end of Iggeres HaKodesh section 25: such an awakening—from this very matter itself—when one pays attention and contemplates the concept of the Shechinah's descent, so to speak, etc.; see there.
And we have been assured that because of this mesirus nefesh (of our master, the Alter Rebbe) for Toras HaChassidus, it was decreed in the Heavenly Court that in every matter of Torah, fear of Heaven, and good character traits, the hand of his mekusharim (those connected to him) and those who follow in his footsteps will be victorious...
As we approach the month of Kislev—the month of miracles and redemption—whose mitzvah is lighting a candle with increasing light even after sunset, may it be G‑d's will that all this be fulfilled in your above-mentioned work with joy and gladness of heart.
