Havavac"h iy"a nu"n etc. Avraham Moshe Greenberg

Shalom u'Vrachah!

It seems to me that you have already been answered once regarding your question in this letter, which concerns the well-known dispute between the Rambam and Ramban about Olam HaBa (the World to Come)—that it has no eating, etc.—whether this refers to just the soul or if at that time there will be a soul in a body. You conclude your letter by asking whether it is possible to interpret the words of Rabbeinu HaZaken in Likkutei Torah there as an allegory.

It is clear that such an interpretation is not correct, for it is explicitly written that there is a dispute here between the Rambam and Ramban, and Chassidus agrees with the view of the Ramban (see Likkutei Torah Tzav 15c; Derech Mitzvosecha, mitzvas tzitzis; and elsewhere).

Regarding your question about what this means: there are several points here. One of them is that since the body participated in performing mitzvos, it is obvious that receiving reward also pertains to it. This should be clear.

Certainly you are increasing in matters of holiness in general, as per the directive of "ma'alin bakodesh" (always ascending in holiness), especially by regularly setting times for studying Chassidus. May Hashem grant you success.

Summary

The Rebbe clarifies that Chassidus follows the Ramban's view: since both body and soul perform mitzvos together, both are destined for reward in Olam HaBa. One should continually increase in holiness and dedicate regular time to learning Chassidus.
