I was pleased to receive your letter with good news that you are being offered to organize the youth in the synagogue where you serve as director, to speak with them about Torah and Judaism, and also that you will visit the synagogue frequently.

It is certainly unnecessary to elaborate that if such efforts were always necessary, then surely in the era preceding Mashiach—especially among youth—every positive change affects how they will build their Jewish homes when their time comes to marry. That is, it impacts generations upon generations. From this it is understood that every effort and endeavor in this area is worthwhile.

I have already stated in similar situations that regarding the youth of America, at all ages and in all groups, they must be taught halachot needed for daily life. In fact, it would be good if even adults and elders would establish such study sessions, because ignorance among even the youngest generation—in matters like blessings over enjoyment, prayer, Shabbat observance, etc.—and the lack of knowledge in these areas is most alarming. One can clearly see the undesirable consequences that result from this lack of knowledge.

It goes without saying that while the amount of time set aside for this study may differ between groups, it is clear that learning is essential. It is also necessary to encourage and motivate students to review these laws during their free time and continue learning them—especially since Kitzur Shulchan Aruch has been translated into English as well.

Even though you did not mention this directly, I hope that according to our conversation he has set fixed times for studying Chassidus and continues to increase in this as "one ascends in holiness," as our Sages instruct.
