במענה למכתבו פ"נ, בו כותב אשר לפי דעתו אינו מצליח במסחרו וכלשונו במכתבו, זאת אומרת בלי מזל.
והנה ידוע מאמר רז"ל, ואין מזל לישראל, כי הקב"ה בורא עולם ומנהיגו הוא המשגיח על כל אחד ואחת מישראל בכל המצטרך לו ולבני ביתו.
ומזה מובן שעליו להוסיף בעניני תורה ומצות וכן שכל ב"ב יעשו כזה, שעל ידי זה יתוסף בברכות השי"ת בהמצטרך בכלל ובעניני פרנסה בפרט.
ובנוגע לעניני פרנסה ביחוד ידועה עצת חז"ל מלח ממון חסר, זאת אומרת שעליו להרבות בצדקה, ולחלק את הצדקה ברבות פעמים, ומזמנים המסוגלים לזה הוא בכל יום חול קודם תפלת הבקר.
ומהנכון אשר יבדקו את התפילין שלו וכן את המזוזות בדירתם שתהיינה כולן כשרות כדין.

Shalom u'Vrachah!
In response to your letter and pan, in which you write that in your opinion you are not succeeding in your business—in your words: without mazal (luck).
It is well known from our sages: "Ein mazal l'Yisrael" (there is no mazal for Israel), for the Holy One, blessed be He, Creator and Ruler of the world, personally oversees each and every Jew regarding all their needs and those of their household.
From this it is understood that one should increase in matters of Torah and mitzvos—and so should all members of his household—for through this there will be an increase in the blessings of Hashem in all needs generally and specifically regarding livelihood.
Regarding livelihood in particular, the advice of our sages is well known: "Melach mamon chaser" (the salt of money is its diminution), meaning one should increase in tzedakah and distribute it many times. Auspicious times for this are every weekday before morning prayers.
It is also proper to have his tefillin checked as well as the mezuzos in his home to ensure they are all kosher according to halachah.
With blessing for good news.
