I was pleased to hear from Mr. and Mrs. ... sheyichyu about your activities in strengthening and spreading Judaism in your community—in the beit midrash and synagogue—and especially at the core level in the area of proper education. If this has always been vital for Israel everywhere and at all times, how much more so in our era filled with events and confusion, and in this country—the United States—where there is goodness and an inner quality found among the youth: innocence and faith. However, unfortunately, in past years some groups have exploited these traits in ways contrary to Torah and mitzvot. I was happy to hear from the above that Hashem has granted you merit and success to see good fruits from your labor—success in your work and efforts—and that many members of the community appreciate you for this.

May it be Hashem's will that you continue to gain strength in Torah—the Torah of life—and its mitzvot. As our Sages say: "One who has a hundred desires two hundred," so may success in your work arouse within you even greater desire and enthusiasm for greater achievements.

On this occasion I wish to remind you—though surely you already know—regarding setting fixed times also for the inner dimension of Torah, which in our generation has been revealed through Chassidus. This gives life and enthusiasm to a Jew's Torah study and mitzvah observance. Especially since you influence many Jews, every increase within yourself in vitality and enthusiasm is multiplied many times over by the increase that comes to those influenced by you as a result.

From matters concerning many to matters concerning individuals: I sensed from the above how much encouragement and strength those individuals receive from you—whether through words or actions—to uplift their spirits when they are downcast. Even though I hope that soon their fortune will improve for the better in certain respects, certainly you will continue to strengthen and encourage them. You also know well the tests they have faced regarding Judaism—both they themselves and their families—and not only that but they have also influenced their environment to bring others closer under the wings of the Shechinah.
