I hereby acknowledge receipt of the report on your activities during the month of Nisan. It seems from its brevity that there will be further updates. In recent days I also had occasion to review your activity reports and summaries from recent weeks and months. Rightly it can be said that this is, in the style of my father-in-law the Rebbe, a very fine plowing and a very fine sowing.

It is appropriate—since you have already been active in holy work for several years and surely have preserved your reports and summaries—to dedicate a special meeting to conduct a general review (at least in broad terms) of your past activities. The main point is to learn from this regarding future efforts, focusing especially on ensuring that from plowing and sowing will come the growth of fruits and grain, as well as their gathering and harvesting.

In other words: how can participation in farbrengens and similar events leave an impression on participants even for days afterward? And how can you maintain contact with them after the event? This should be clear.

Another point (surprisingly not raised by anyone among Anash): Since there are now several tourists in Eretz HaKodesh from various countries, this is a unique opportunity to impact many countries from right there in Eretz HaKodesh—provided you use every day and every opportunity to show and instill Chabad matters and its wellsprings into these individuals. Although not all types of people are equally receptive or influenced—and each type requires an appropriate approach—on the other hand, it is possible to reach each type if one considers what method works for them.

In general it is difficult to write details or specifics about all this from here; moreover, it is not beneficial [and can even be detrimental—as our Sages say: "A person prefers his own small measure over nine measures belonging to someone else"]. If you make your own plan, the work will go more smoothly—at least somewhat so.

I am sending this letter urgently because I consider this matter extremely urgent. To my astonishment and regret, none of Anash’s letters raise these points—not only regarding influencing distant countries but even regarding influencing the tourists themselves.

As with all matters, extra care must be taken here against the pitfalls of "the pot shared by partners," which can cause great harm—since one might say: "Rejoice my innards! I have a partner," while at the same time deciding that everything should be done by the partner and nothing by oneself.

May it be Hashem’s will that you succeed in your holy work to make Eretz Yisrael a land of holiness also openly and as described above: "For out of Zion shall go forth Torah," specifically Torah—as is well known (Eichah Rabbah 2:13): "If there is wisdom among the nations—believe it; if there is Torah among the nations—do not believe it." For Torah is unique to Israel; this excludes non-Jews literally—even excluding the gentile within a Jewish person (see Likkutei Torah Devarim 90d). In this work one must find ways every day to do it and utilize it for this purpose. Certainly one should utilize holidays, farbrengens, etc.

I am not writing separately to other Anash or branches; surely ways will be found to publicize these points—whether by sending copies or holding meetings or similar means.
