After a long pause, your letter from Pesach Sheini was received, in which you ask in what manner one should guide a person in the path of Chassidus. It is understood that this depends on the nature of the soul of the one who needs guidance, for although it is obvious that every Jew must become acquainted with matters of the teachings of Chassidus, not all people's opinions are alike. Therefore, one must proceed according to each individual's temperament; see also the introduction to Sefer HaTanya.

The general point is that guidance should begin in the way to which this person is accustomed. That is, if he is from those inclined toward Mussar, then one should begin introducing him through Iggeres HaTeshuvah of the Alter Rebbe in Kuntres U'Maayan and similar works. If he is from those inclined toward intellectual study, then one should find topics for him in Shaar HaYichud VeHaEmunah and similar works. In general, the book Derech Mitzvosecha is easy according to one's understanding and contains various types. It is understood that for those who have no knowledge at all in Torah and its matters, guidance should begin with Sichos and Likkutei Dibburim.

It is surprising that you do not mention anything about your current daily schedule; surely you have set times for studying Nigleh and Chassidus, and you will certainly inform me on another occasion.

At an auspicious time you will be mentioned at the holy resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe zatzal nishmaso Eden for all your needs.
