Shalom u'Vrachah!
In response to your letter from the 5th of Iyar, in which you write that you have been accepted into Tzeirei Chabad and at times study Divrei Elokus (Chassidus) and listen to talks. However, it is obvious that this is not the proper way to study the holy Torah in any of its parts—that one's learning should be only occasional (see Yerushalmi at the end of Berachos: "HaOseh Toraso Itim"—one who makes his Torah study occasional...). That is, as if one studies something that happens by chance, and therefore involvement in it is arbitrary. Not only does this affect the study of this part of Torah, but it also impacts learning and success in all other parts of Torah, as our Sages ruled: "Anyone who says this teaching is pleasant and this one is not..." (Eruvin 64a)—even though he agrees that both are teachings like the first one, and thus it is understood that it is the word of Hashem; but for him it is not pleasant or fitting (see there for more on rushing through a matter).
And I hope that at least from now on you will set a fixed time also for studying Chassidus—as instructed by our master the Alter Rebbe, author of Tanya (the authority in the hidden part of Torah), and Shulchan Aruch (the authority in the revealed part)—to have a set time, but more importantly a set commitment in your soul. Through this, there will be an increase not only regarding Chassidus but also regarding the study of Nigleh.
Regarding what you wrote about your future studies: you should present the details before three of your friends, and may Hashem give them the right idea on how to advise you.
You surely know about the three well-known daily study cycles—Chumash, Tehillim, and Tanya—and at least from now on you should keep them.
Blessings for good news in all mentioned above,
In the name of the Lubavitcher Rebbe shlita,
Mazkir
Summary
The Rebbe teaches that Torah learning must be consistent and with fixed times—including for Chassidus—and that such commitment brings success in all areas of Torah. Consulting friends about one's learning plan and keeping daily study cycles are also emphasized.
