עס וואונדערט מיר וואס שוין א ליינגערע צייט איז פון אייך ניט געווען קיינע בריף און ידיעות וועגען אייער טעטיקייט בכלל און בפרט בהנוגע צו נשי ובנות חב"ד פון שיקאגא, ה' עליהן תחיינה, חאטש איך נעם אן אז אלעס גייט אן בסדר, און אין אזעלכעס סדר על פי תורה, מיינט, ניט צו שטיין אויפן זעלבען שטאנד שטענדיג, נאר האלטען אין וואקסען, ווי דער אנזאג פון תורתנו הק' מעלין בקדש.
זעלבסט פארשטענדליך האב איך געפרעגט בא אייער מאן הרב שליט"א וועגען דעם, אבער ווייס נאר אלגעמיינע ידיעות אין דעם, אז עס קומען פאר די אסיפות לויט דעם איינגעשטעלטען סדר וכו', וויל איך האפען אז בא דער נעקסטער געלעגענהייט וועט איר מיר שרייבין מער פרטים אין דעם, און השי"ת זאל העלפען מען זאל קענען נאר אנזאגען גוטע בשורות, און ווי געזאגט אז די אגודת נשי ובנות חב"ד, אין שיקאגא טוט איר ארבעט אין א אלץ גרעסערער מאס, און זעלבסט פארשטענדליך אויך גוטע בשורות אין אייערע ענינים הפרטים.
און אזוי ווי זומער, איז מן הסתם פראן געוויסע ענדערונגען בא יעדער אין איר פריוואטער איינשטעלונג, וועלכעס האט א ווירקונג אומדירעקט אויך אויף דער ארבעט איינשטעלונג פון נשי ובנות חב"ד (מיינט דאך דאס אבער ניט אז זומער דארף זיין א שטיל צושטאנד אין דער ארבעט), מען דארף נאר איינשטעלען די ארבעט צוגעפאסט צו די זומער אומשטענדען, און ניט צו פארקלענערן די צאל צייטען פון צוזאמענקומען זיך און הלואי זאל נאך צוקומען, ואין לך דבר העומד בפני הרצון.
איך האף אז אין אייער ארבעט אלס מורה בחינוך, האט איר אויך אויסגעניצט די פסח צייט וימי הספירה מיט די פאסיגע רעיונות אויפקלערונגען פאר די תלמידים און וועט אויך טאן אזוי בנוגע צו חג השבועות קבלת התורה, און אויך זיינער צייט אויסארבעטען א פלאן פון אינטערעס פאר די תלמידים אין דער צייט פון וואקיישאן, ווארום ליידער אין מערסטע פאלען בריינגט דער וואקיישאן פאר די תלמידים, ענינים פון פריקת עול, וועלכע מען פארקליידעט דאס אין א מאנטעל פון וואקיישאן.

From the Holy Letters of the Rebbe, Volume 17, Letter 6214. Baruch Hashem, the second day of Iyar, 5718, Brooklyn. A letter to Mrs. Chaya Sora Hecht of Chicago. Bracha v’Shalom.
The Rebbe writes that he is surprised it has been such a long time since he received any letter from her or any report regarding her activities in general, especially concerning the work of the Women and Daughters of Chabad in Chicago.
The Rebbe adds that he assumes everything is going properly and in good order. Yet he explains that according to Torah, being “in order” does not mean remaining in the same place. True order means constant advancement. In holiness, one must always rise higher. Therefore, when he says he hopes matters are in order, he means that they are steadily growing and improving.
The Rebbe notes that he had already asked her husband, Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Hecht, about these matters. However, he only knew the general reports that regular meetings were being held according to schedule. He did not know the details. Therefore, the Rebbe says he hopes that at the next opportunity she will write with fuller and more detailed reports.
He blesses that she should always be able to share only good news, and that the Agudas N’shei u’Bnos Chabad in Chicago should continue its work in ever greater measure, constantly increasing its activities and accomplishments. He also expresses his desire to hear good news in her personal matters as well.
The Rebbe then turns to the approaching summer season. During the summer, people often experience changes in their schedules and family arrangements, which can indirectly affect the work and organization of N’shei u’Bnos Chabad. However, this does not mean the work should become silent or inactive. Summer is not a time to stop. Rather, it means the activities must be adapted to summer conditions. The number of gatherings should not be reduced, and if possible, they should even increase. As our sages teach, nothing stands in the way of true will. If there is sincere desire, a way can always be found.
The Rebbe continues that in her work as an educator, he hopes she is using the days following Pesach and the period of Sefirah to share appropriate lessons and inspiration with her students. Likewise, she should prepare meaningful teachings connected to the approaching festival of Shavuos and the receiving of the Torah.
In addition, the Rebbe urges her to create an engaging plan for the students during their vacation months. Unfortunately, he writes, in many cases vacation becomes a time when students cast off responsibility. They may think that vacation means freedom from prayer, study, discipline, and commitment. This attitude is mistaken. Vacation should not become a break from one’s values or obligations. Therefore, she should develop programs and ideas that will keep the students inspired and connected even during their time away from school.
The Rebbe concludes with blessings for success in her holy work to strengthen Yiddishkeit and spread it further, and with blessings for good news in all matters.
Summary –
The Rebbe teaches that spiritual growth never pauses. True success means always moving upward, adapting to new circumstances, and using every season—even vacation—as an opportunity to strengthen Torah, responsibility, and Jewish life.
