Blessings and Encouragement for the Melbourne Yeshiva Dinner

The Rebbe writes that he received his letter of April 25 with joy. He adds that he had already been concerned because of the long interruption in direct correspondence. Although he would hear regards and reports through other chassidim, it is self-understood that this is not the same as hearing directly from the person himself. A firsthand report from the source is always on a higher level than hearing through an intermediary.

The Rebbe says he was especially pleased to read about the upcoming benefit dinner for Yeshivah Oholei Yosef Yitzchak Lubavitch in Melbourne, and that he was actively involved in making the necessary preparations. The Rebbe notes that there is no need to elaborate to someone like him on the great importance of such work. Since these efforts are for the benefit of the public, every investment of time, strength, and energy is worthwhile.

The Rebbe explains that when one works on behalf of the community, he is supported by the merit of the many. Therefore, the blessed Hashem grants blessing and success to such efforts. The Rebbe’s words reflect deep appreciation for his dedication to strengthening Torah education in Melbourne.

The Rebbe continues that he has forwarded the request for material that might be useful for the dinner, asking that anything available be sent to him. In addition, bli neder, at the appropriate time the Rebbe would also send his blessing to all those involved in preparing the event and to all who would participate in the dinner.

The Rebbe concludes with a warm blessing that he should always be able to share good news—not only regarding communal matters, but also in his personal life: health, livelihood, and Yiddishe nachas from his children and descendants, together with his wife תחי׳.
