Greetings and blessings!
In response to your letter from December 1st in which you write about your heartfelt wishes for good—that Hashem Yisborach should bless you with more living and healthy children in addition to your daughter, may she live and be well—and you add that your husband did not want to consult a doctor regarding why you have not been blessed with children for several years.
It is well known in the conduct of Torah that even though Hashem Yisborach is the Creator and Ruler of the world, the Healer of all flesh Who works wonders, nevertheless a person must also act according to natural means. In the words of our Sages of blessed memory: "The Torah has given permission to the doctor to heal." Therefore, you should speak again with your husband so that both he and you are examined by a specialist in this field and follow his instructions.
It is understood that together with this, both of you should increase your involvement in Torah and mitzvos—especially in observing the laws of family purity, modesty, and similar matters—as well as giving tzedakah. You should pray to the Giver of Torah and mitzvah that He fulfill your aforementioned heartfelt wishes for good.
It is advisable that your husband's tefillin and the mezuzos in your home be checked to ensure they are all kosher according to halachah. You should continue the fine custom of upright Jewish women to give tzedakah before lighting candles every Friday afternoon and before each Yom Tov for the fulfillment of your aforementioned wishes.
It appears from your letter that you are a daughter of a Kohen. If your husband is not a Kohen, then in addition to all the above it is proper that he become proficient in some tractate from Shas—even one of the minor tractates such as Kallah or similar.
With blessings for good news,
In the name of the Lubavitcher Rebbe shlita,
Mazkir (secretary)
Summary
The Rebbe teaches that seeking blessings for children involves both spiritual efforts—Torah observance, family purity, tzedakah—and practical steps like consulting medical experts. Both approaches together invite Hashem's blessing for fulfillment of heartfelt wishes.
