זה עתה נתקבל מכתבם הראשון מיום ה' שבט וחבל אשר לא ניצלו ימי הנסיעה[1] שלהם יותר בפעולות בעניני יהדות בכלל וחסידות ביחוד, אבל הרי אין צועקין על העבר אף שפליאה גדולה עליהם על העדר הפעולות כדבעי בהאמור, ותקותי שעכ"פ באה"ק ת"ו ינצלו את האפשרית בזה ככל הדרוש, והרי נסיעתם לכאן היתה כרוכה בכמה קישוים העלמות והסתרים ופשיטא שצריכים ליהנות ממנה לא רק שני אנשים יהי' מה שיהי', אלא מספר רב יותר וכל המרבה בזה ה"ז משובח, ובפרט שהלא לא לכל אחד ישנה האפשרות לנסוע בעצמו, וכשיתבוננו בהאמור אליבא דנפשי' באמת בודאי ימצאו כמה דרכים ואופנים בזה ולא רק בהנוגע להשפעתם בהמוסד בם משרתים בקדש אלא במסגרת רחבה יותר וכמו צעירי אגו"ח והשי"ת יצליחם לבשר טוב בכל האמור.

Your first letter dated the 5th of Shevat has just been received, and it is unfortunate that you did not utilize the days of your journey more for activities in matters of Yiddishkeit in general and Chassidus in particular. However, one does not cry over the past, even though it is truly surprising that you did not act as you should have in this regard. I hope that at least in Eretz HaKodesh may it be rebuilt and established, you will utilize every opportunity in this area as required.
Your trip here involved many difficulties, concealments, and obstacles. It is obvious that you should benefit from it not just as two individuals—whatever may be—but rather with a much greater number of people; whoever increases in this is praiseworthy. Especially since not everyone has the opportunity to travel themselves. If you truly reflect on what was said above personally, you will certainly find many ways and means to do so—not only regarding your influence within the institution where you serve in holiness but also on a broader scale, such as with Tzeirei Agudas Chabad. May Hashem grant you success to share good news about all the above.
