מאשר הנני קבלת מכתבו מכ"ד מ"ח... במה שמסיים במכתבו בהנוגע לשאלת נסיעת האניות בש"ק ושאלת החשמל וכיו"ב, באה"ק ת"ו.
הנה מה שהתערבתי בשאלת האניות הוא, להיותה שאלה דארצוה"ב ונויארק ביחוד, ולכן עשיתי בזה עד כמה שכידי מגעת כמדומה לי - בכדי לתקן המצב כאן. ומובן שזה הי' תלוי ג"כ בקצה השני, היינו מקום מוצא האני', שלכן מוכרח הייתי לכתוב גם לאה"ק ת"ו בזה, משא"כ שאלת החשמל וכו' - שזהו שאלת אה"ק ת"ו, וביחוד שכבר ידועים ומפורסמים החילוקי דיעות בזה של רבני אה"ק ת"ו עם הטעמים ונמוקים שלהם.

I acknowledge receipt of your letter from the 24th of MarCheshvan... Regarding what you conclude in your letter about the question of ship travel on Shabbos and the question of electricity and similar matters in Eretz Yisrael, my involvement in the matter of ships was because it is a question relevant to the United States and especially New York. Therefore, I did as much as I could—so it seems to me—in order to improve the situation here. It is understood that this also depended on the other end, meaning the place where the ship departs from; therefore I had to write about this also to Eretz Yisrael. However, regarding the question of electricity and similar matters—this is a question for Eretz Yisrael, especially since the differences of opinion among the rabbis of Eretz Yisrael are already well known and publicized along with their reasons and explanations.
