איך בין געווען צופרידען צו באקומען די ידיעה דורך הרה"ח אי"א נו"נ עוסק בצ"צ כו' מוה"ר יוחנן שי' גארדאן המזכיר, אז היינט (היום לעשותם) פרשת "אם כסף תלוה" (אם חובה, און ניט רשות. מכילתא. וע"ד היום אם בקולו תשמעו, וואס דאס בריינגט ביאת משיח היום. סנהדרין צח, א). קומט פאר א אויסער-ארדענטליכע פארזאמלונג לכבוד דעם זעקס און פערציג יאהריגען קיום פון דער חברה.
און איך האף אז, לויטן פסק פון רז"ל כל המוסיף מוסיפין לו, וועט השי"ת מוסיף זיין הצלחה אין אייער ארבעט פון גמילות חסדים - וועלכע איז נאך גרעסער פון צדקה, וואס גמילות חסדים קען דאך זיין גלייכצייטיג מיט פרנסה און עשירות בא אידען, ווי רז"ל זאגען (סוכה מט, ע"ב) אז גמילות חסדים איז אויך פאר רייכע.
ותקותי וברכתי, אז אייער ארבעט אין דעם זאל געפירט ווערען מיט דעם געפיל לויטן סיום פון פסוק הנ"ל: אם כסף תלוה - את העני עמך, אז דער סכום וואס דער לוה דארף - וואס באותה שעה איז ער דאך א עני - געפינט זיך נאר אלס פקדון באם גומל חסד, וועלכען מען וויל מזכה זיין מיט דער גרויסער מצוה, און וואס אן דעם לוה וואלט ער ניט באקומען דעם זכות המצוה (עיין שם באור החיים הקדוש).
און פון דעם געפיל זאל מען צוקומען צו א העכערען געפיל אין צדקה וגמילות חסדים לויטן בארימטען ווארט פון חסידים הראשונים, וועלכער איז איבערגעגעבען געווארען צו אונז פון כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע: דער שטיקעל ברויט וואס איך האב, איז ער דיינער ווי מיינער, והיו מקדימים מלת "דיינער" - דיינער ווי מיינער.
א ווארט וואס איז לייכט צו פארשטיין לויט דעם ביאור פון רבנו הזקן באגרת הקדש אין פילע ערטער, אז בכדי צו מקבל זיין די השפעות מלמעלה ובפרט די השפעות גשמיות בגשמיות ממש, איז דאס דוקא דורך מצות הצדקה וועלכע איז ממשיך למטה מטה.
בברכת הצלחה בעבודתם בקדש, ושזה ימשיך ג"כ תוספת ברכה והצלחה לכל אחד ואחת מהעוסקים - הן בגופם הן בממונם - להם ולבני ביתם שיחיו,

I was pleased to receive the news through Haraha"ch iy"a nu"n one involved in tzt"z etc. Moreinu HaRav Yochanan Gordon, the secretary, that today (HaYom La'asosam) Parshas "Im Kesef Talveh" (if it is an obligation and not optional—Mechilta. And regarding today: "If you will listen to His voice," which brings the coming of Moshiach today—Sanhedrin 98a), there is taking place an extraordinary gathering in honor of the forty-sixth anniversary of your society.
I hope that, according to our Sages' ruling "Whoever adds, they add for him," Hashem will increase success in your work of gemilus chasadim—which is even greater than tzedakah, since gemilus chasadim can be done simultaneously with earning a livelihood and wealth among Jews. As our Sages say (Sukkah 49b), gemilus chasadim is also for the wealthy.
My hope and blessing is that your work in this should be conducted with the feeling according to the conclusion of the above verse: "Im Kesef Talveh—es ha'ani imach" (If you lend money—[lend] to My people with you), that the sum which the borrower needs—who at that moment is considered poor—is only held as a deposit by the benefactor who wishes to merit this great mitzvah; and without this borrower he would not have had this merit (see there in Ohr HaChaim HaKadosh).
From this feeling one should come to an even higher feeling in tzedakah and gemilus chasadim according to the famous saying of earlier Chassidim, which was passed down to us from my father-in-law, the Rebbe zatzal: "The piece of bread I have is yours just as much as mine," and they would even precede saying "yours": "Yours just as much as mine." This saying is easy to understand according to Rabbeinu HaZaken's explanation in Iggeres HaKodesh in many places: In order to receive blessings from Above—and especially material blessings in actual physicality—it comes specifically through the mitzvah of tzedakah which draws down [blessing] below.
With blessings for success in your holy work, and that this should also bring additional blessing and success to each and every one involved—in both their bodies and their finances—for them and their families.
Summary
The Rebbe teaches that true charity involves recognizing what we have as belonging equally to others. By lending or giving with this mindset, we draw down G‑d’s blessings both spiritually and materially into our lives.
